Jeff Drummond, one of the finest jazz guitarists in our region - will be playing some of his original compositions and choice standards in the jazz idiom, from traditional to modern approaches. He's in great company, with Jon May on drums, and John Hyde on bass.
As Jeff told me recently, "Since graduating from music school in the early '90's, I've worked as a guitarist, educator, composer, producer, and engineer."
Over the past two and half decades, he's explored many musical genres, toured North America and The United Kingdom as bandleader and freelance guitarist for numerous artists and bands.
Jeff has appeared on high profile national television/radio programs and garnered countless recording credits for various streams of media including radio, CD, TV, and film. On stage or in the studio, he has worked with countless highly acclaimed artists in many different roles.
"As guitarist and primary composer for the atmospheric groove-based jazz trio Sinistrio, I have also served as engineer and co-producer for all four of the group's CD's. The last release from the band; The Perfect Human spent over 6 weeks at #1 on the Earshot Canadian jazz charts and the album was nominated for best instrumental album at the Western Canadian Music Awards in 2014."
Jeff resides locally and works as a freelance musician with a variety of acts. He's also currently leading his own projects - playing solo and with backing bands of various sizes and instrumentation.
As a talented composer, teacher, recording artist and player, Jon May brings a thoughtfulness to the Comox Valley and Canadian music scene, where he bridges a gap between many genres. May was raised in New Hampshire and grew up an avid music lover whose passion for the drums and piano eventually landed him in Canada. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern Maine School of Music, and experienced a career that has included everything from jazz to orchestral music with award winning and Juno-nominated artists. May has toured extensively through the U.S.A., Canada, and Europe.
